Business IT Support

IT support and cybersecurity for NZ professional services firms on a fixed monthly fee.

Professional services firms don't have much tolerance for IT problems. A locked account during a client deadline or a system outage on a billing day costs more than just time. Valley IT manages IT and cybersecurity for NZ professional services firms on a fixed monthly fee, keeping things running so the work can.

We work with financial services businesses, insurers, accountants, law firms, consultants, and recruiters across NZ. Firms come to us for different reasons. Some have outgrown a provider that isn't keeping pace. Others are growing quickly and need IT managed properly before it becomes a problem. And for some, this is the first time they've had a dedicated IT partner.

How it works

  1. 01

    Conversation & assessment

We start by understanding your current setup and where IT is getting in the way. For professional services firms, that usually means getting into the platforms your team relies on and any compliance requirements relevant to your sector. If you have an existing provider, we review what's in place before recommending anything.

  2. 02

    Proposal & onboarding

You get a proposal scoped to your firm type and size, at a fixed monthly rate. Security controls and compliance configuration are built in from the start. Onboarding fits around your team, with a handover from your outgoing provider handled if there is one.

  3. 03

    Ongoing support

From there we manage it. Helpdesk and security monitoring running continuously. When something bigger comes up, like a migration or a new office, you have a partner who already understands your firm and what it's accountable for.

Common questions

Why do professional services firms need specialist business IT support?

Professional services firms handle data other people trust them with: financial records, client communications, personal information. An IT problem in that context can affect a client relationship, a compliance obligation, or a deadline that doesn't move. General IT support works fine until it doesn't. Specialist business IT support means your systems are actively monitored and maintained, so those situations stay rare.

What does your IT support cover for professional services firms?

Valley IT supports the IT environment your firm runs on: devices, Microsoft 365, network access, and the security controls that sit across all of it. If your team uses a particular platform for client work, we make sure it connects properly, stays secure, and fits into your wider setup. Law firms with specific practice management software requirements can find that detail on our legal IT page.

How do you handle data security for professional services firms?

Professional services firms are worth targeting. They hold financial records, personal information, and commercially sensitive client communications. Valley IT puts in place the controls that matter: email security to block phishing before it reaches your team, endpoint protection on every device, MFA across Microsoft 365, and access controls so staff only reach what they need. But setup is just the start. We monitor and maintain those controls as your firm changes, so they don't go stale.

What compliance requirements apply to professional services firms?

It depends on the type of firm. Financial services and insurance businesses have obligations under the Financial Markets Conduct Act and AML/CFT regulations that carry direct IT implications, including access controls, audit trails, and data retention. Accounting firms face similar requirements under the Privacy Act 2020. Law firms carry additional trust account security obligations on top. Valley IT configures the IT controls that support those requirements, though we don't replace your compliance obligations or your professional advisers.

Can you support a firm with multiple offices or remote staff?

Yes. Valley IT manages devices and systems across multiple locations from one place. Consultancies and recruitment firms with branches, or financial services teams spread across sites, get consistent IT management wherever they are. Remote and hybrid arrangements are standard for most of our clients. If a location needs hands-on work, we coordinate that too.

How does pricing work?

Valley IT works on a fixed monthly retainer based on the number of users and devices in your firm. One invoice each month, no callout charges. Firms with specific software or compliance requirements don't pay a higher base rate for that. It's covered under the retainer. One-off project work like a system migration or infrastructure upgrade is scoped and quoted separately.
